You may be an individual, a small company, or even a large company. If you have an online presence, you are bound to experience a dilemma frequently encountered by other users – With so much competition around, it’s hard to get your website noticed.
However, don’t feel defeated. If you are willing to put in the effort to implement them, after reading my top tips, you will be boosting your traffic in no time. I’ve selected the best and most effective ways to help overcome this conundrum. Read on to uncover my top tips…….
- Carefully choose some top keywords that you want to rank top in Google for. Here, you are looking for keywords that generate the most searches and the least competition. Of course you need to do your research here. But avoid generic, all-encompassing key words. This creates too much competition. Also, remember to put your keywords in your domain name.
- Don’t let your pages become dormant. Update your posts regularly to keep it fresh. Try to relate your content to contemporary issues currently generating concern and interest, especially in your niche. Addressing these popular topics will, of course, increase your traffic. Or even better – don’t just comment on the news, make the news yourself – thinking of a headline on a contemporary pressing concern is bound to generate interest. (Of course, you don’t have to be entirely original, but you can combine sources to make it sound original). Nonetheless, if you are very time-strapped, write on timeless classic topics that won’t be out of date a day later.
- Use attention-grabbing headlines that are relevant to your niche and your audience. Entice your readers in by using a headline that offer your readers something different – Suggest something novel, offer an alternative way of doing things, or state how your post can help solve people’s problems in new ways.
- Write guest posts. Comment on blogs that are on similar topics to your own website. Doing this means they are more likely to visit your page. However, don’t constrain yourself. Write on a number of different websites – this will help widen your audience. This way you can expose yourself to lots of new readers and bring them back to your website.
- Including interviews / webinars / & teleseminars are an excellent way to generate traffic and increase your list of subscribers. Even better if you can interview or include blogs of prominent, well-known, or respected opinions.
- Submit your blog to AllTop.com. As they pull leading blogs from across the web to a single location, this is a brilliant way to increase traffic. But in order to stand a chance of success, do ensure your blogs are high quality.
- Rather than submitting articles to article directories, submit them to the best websites and blogs in your niche. For instance, if you write about internet marketing, submit your article to places like mashable.com.
- Build connections and develop relations with your networks. For instance, link to other blogs and they will probably link you too.
- Use blog commenting. Maximise your expose by aiming to be the first to comment. And ensure you provide valuable, insightful comments that will generate interest. Develop a confident voice with an opinion others will value. This will help bring them back to your own site.
- Submit valuable tutorials to websites such as Instructables.com. This will increase your exposure to others, demonstrate your value/skill, and link them back to your website.

Lilach you have made some really good points here on how to increase traffic to your website. It’s so important for people not to get discouraged. I remember back in the early days when i was so frustrated that no matter what i did, i was getting maybe one man and his dog visiting my blog, and of course my mum too. But i persisted, kept going, did everything you suggest, and now look hundreds of people visit my blog every day. 15,000 last month. So i hope your readers follow your tips. It’s also great to find another blogger from the UK.

Thanks Larry. You’re quite right not to get discouraged. It does take time to get good quality traffic but if you persevere with some pretty simple (and free) techniques you will get there. Well done for getting 15,000 visits to your blog – fantastic results:)
Great tips Lilach!
I must take your advise and update my blogs more regularly. It is important to keep blogs fresh and exciting so viewers can rely on them for keeping your finger on the pulse. My mission for the day is to update all of my blogs.

Thanks Aidan. Yep keeping your blog up-to-date and fresh is so important, afterall you also want your readers to come back again and again and if there is nothing new for them to see the chances are they may not visit again. The more repeat visitors you get the better, easier to build relationships with them and they are more likely to recommend your blog too which of course means even more traffic:)
Really enjoyed your article Lilach. Instructables is new to me so I’m definitely going to check that out. Other good points – I was thrilled to get my blog listed at Alltop and it’s definitely made a difference in traffic, and I definitely agree with your point about posting regularly. That’s kind of a hot button for me as a reader. Guest blogging is the one thing I haven’t done yet, but it’s now #1 on my list – in fact it’s what I’ll be working on for the remainder of the week. Thanks for the inspiration and information!

Hey Lilach – I was going to say that I hadn’t heard about instructables.com either – but Marquita bet me to it – anyway, it was worth reading through your post just for that one resource alone – thanks for sharing.

Lilach – this is such a valuable post – love to see so many tips all in one place and whilst we personally knew many of these we did pick up one we didn’t know (instructables.com) We do a lot of tutorial blogs and videos so this will be a great place for us to submit content to. PS can we ask if you would appear as a guest on our Internet Marketing Webshow? We launch on Tuesday 20th September and will be asking for experts to join us to talk on their specialist subject from time to time:-)

Thanks Susan, yes Instructables is a less well known traffic tip but highly effective. I think when you’re writing about traffic tips it’s nice to give some of the lesser known tips so that your readers can actually learn something rather than the same tips going round!
Thanks so much for the invitation to appear on your new Internet Marketing Webshop, it looks fantastic and I would love to appear and of course will share it with everyone here:)
Hello Lilach,
Thanks so much for this post, hadn’t heard of Alltop before so have just signed up.
I also didn’t think that normal people like me could submit to mashable … hmm, methinks some serious wordcrafting is in order!

My pleasure Gemma. Alltop is great for driving more traffic so hopefully you’re start to see even more coming your way:)
Hmmm normal people like you – isn’t it normal people that are writing on Mashable? I’m sure with some great content you’re be in, you’ve just got to keep persevering, it’s actually more about the amount of requests they get as they’re inundated which takes the time. But I have no doubt’s you’re get there:)
Hi Lilach,
You have highlighted some great methods to include in any strategic blogging campaign.
The key areas produce content that educates, enlightens and inspires your readership, frequently and consistently.

Very useful information, and so far I have been impressed by the fairly straight forward way its all presented, it is so easy to get lost in the first couple of lines, and never bother reading more. Well I read to the end, and stayed interested.
Clear post thanks for reminding me to check out AllTop.com it’s on my list
Thanks Emma. AllTop.com is a fabulous site and I highly recommend you add your site to it:)
Excellent tip. “Rather than submitting articles to article directories, submit them to the best websites and blogs in your niche” It’s best to submit to relevant sites.

Thanks Duke, you can submit to Mashable but it’s not the easiest of sites however it’s definitely worth persevering with – particularly as Mashable gets 8 million visitors a month:)

These are useful tips that are easy to implement even for non-techy people. The urban myth is that to increase your web traffic one needs to pay large sums of money and constantly perform behind the site techy magic. These tips show that being proactive is possible for every website owner. Thank you.
