I often get asked if there are any tools to help you create Facebook Fan Pages. Now I could step in here and recommend my own bespoke Facebook Fan Pages but you know me, I believe in choice so today I want to share with you a tool called Pagemodo (of course if you’re looking for a bespoke Facebook Fan Page please contact me, I’ll be happy to assist you).
Let’s look at the pros of using Pagemodo
- Enables you to easily publish tabs on your Facebook page. It also lets you easily edit or delete a published tab.
- Pagemodo provides various professional Facebook tab layouts. It allows you to easily upload, scale and rotate your own images, add text, select your font, and background colours.
- You can add links to text or hotspot hyperlinks to images that you upload to its template components.

- Pagemodo allows you to customize your tab label name.
- It’s easy to make changes.
- Social media aps – for fan coupons, contact forms, maps, etc.
- Ideal for beginners. No need for specialist programming or Photoshop expertise. Easy to navigate and it provides clear step by step instructions to guide you through.
- Pagemodo has a community forum as well as help and support should you need it.
Cons

- You cannot rearrange the tabs to place the Welcome tab before your Wall and Info tabs.
- Rigid templates mean it is not fully customisable to meet your precise needs i.e. you cannot remove components such as the mini-captions for each of the images. So you should aim to generate your own images outside of the service’s web interface.
- Limited widgets – Lack of ability to insert an RSS feed, run a poll or contest, contact forms, add a Twitter feed, maps or music to your Facebook tab. Also doesn’t provide a place to insert HTML or JavaScript code
- Lack of advanced features
- Cannot resize the images in the template.
- Need to ensure character count between columns is exact as there is no way to balance the content short of removing words.
How much does it cost?
There are two options:
- A free version. Allows you to create one page with several graphics. No video available. (includes Pagemodo footer advertising)
- Paid version is $6.25 to $33.25 a month. There is no Pagemodo footer advertising.
Overall, Pagemodo is a quick, easy and simple tool ideal for the novice or simply those who want to save time or don’t want to invest in a bespoke Facebook Fan Page. However some may feel their features are too limited. To get started click here

hey Lilach!
i haven’t used Pagemodo, but after reading your review I can appreciate it’s plus points so I would consider using, probably for some smaller projects.
Thanks Lilach!

Thanks Carl:) I must admit I personally don’t use it. I like things customizable and that’s why I offer fully bespoke Facebook Fan Pages. But I think it’s important to offer people choices. Pagemodo is a good cost effective solution but has it’s limitations, for those who want something more unique then I don’t recommend them.

Not really creating a Fan Page. Just a sliver of information shared, and that entitled contacting you to set it up. This is about creating Facebook Fan Page TABS. Not trying to be too critical here, just trying to help you out.
My background is physically creating Facebook Fan pages for hundreds of people around the world, and thousands virtually via a helpful how-to video I have made a while back: http://youtu.be/zVCeSD-7jYs
Hope that helps.

Thanks Taylor, appreciate your comment. Whilst I personally recommend having a bespoke Facebook Fan Page which is something I too provide – I appreciate that not everyone has the budget for this which is why I gave them the option of Pagemodo.
Thanks for sharing your video.

Sure thing, though they can only include Pagemodo if they have a fan page already.

Fair point, you have to create your blank FB Page first:)

I absolutely love your blog and find most of your post’s to be just what I’m looking for. Does one offer guest writers to write content available for you? I wouldn’t mind creating a post or elaborating on a lot of the subjects you write related to here. Again, awesome weblog!
Thanks so much for your comment and great feedback:) I’m always looking for guest bloggers – my “rules” are that the blog has to be unique content and not posted anywhere else and a minimum of 500 words. To submit a guest blog please visit here http://www.socialable.co.uk/fan-post-friday/

I’m a big fan of Lujure. They make creating fan pages so very easy! You can use templates or do your own layout, and they offer simple widgets that you just drag and drop wherever you want them! Best of all for me, no coding is required. There is a free version that allows you to create one tab. For more tabs and more features, their paid level starts at $30/month.
Thanks Jeanine, hadn’t heard of Lajure so thanks for sharing the tip:)

Thanks Lilach, great information! I need to take a look at pagemodo and Lujure when I have a moment. Just not now! I will be back to this post at that time!

Thanks Christy, my pleasure:) Thanks for your comment.

Thanks for the info Lilach I had not heard of ‘pagemodo’ and although you say it has it’s limitations the price is about right.

Thanks David:) I think Pagemodo is a good starting point for those on a budget. If you’re looking to build a list and want to have a completely bespoke page then I recommend you have one professionally designed.

My problem is I never know which type of Facebook page/profile/timeline I actually have, some restrict you, Ive tried to put a fan page on my main “page” http://www.facebook.com/Kensingtonfive6five6 but it just would not work?
Thanks Adam. You can have a profile and a Facebook Fan Page. Your timeline is part of your main profile and nothing to do with your Facebook Fan Page.
If you’re looking for a free/cheap option contact Pagemodo’s support and I’m sure they will help you. If you need help and would like a bespoke page, then feel free to drop me an email:)

Hi Lilach, an interesting post. I have to say I concentrate more on stimulating content and discussion just using the default Facebook page (with a couple of extra tabs like Flickr) than worrying too much about the additional extras. I’m interested to hear what people think about the whole “welcome” or “landing” page. These smack too much of splash pages to me – I prefer my visitors to land directly on the wall so that they can see the activity that’s going on – get them interested in contributions and contributing. I have been pushed by my company to implement the Welcome page but have resisted so far.
Other elements of the bespoke or software created Fan page are interesting and can add value – but I’d still concentrate on engaging and conversing first, all the rest second.
Harry
Thanks Harry. I personally like welcome pages. It’s a good way to grow likes and also gets people to optin to your list.
You have to remember why people are using FB Fan Pages. For me, it’s not just about engaging with my audience but it is also about list building, getting more likes as well of course as adding value and interacting with everyone.
Have you checked out Disney’s Facebook Fan Page? They have an amazing page where you can even play games on.
I have to say on this occasion I agree with your company:)

You gave me a killer tip recently about HootSuite so I am taking your advice here too but Pagemodo looks too basic. (I would never use Tweetdeck having found HootSuite
Anybody critique Lujure?
Thanks

Thanks Steve. Yes I love Hootsuite, I too used to use Tweetdeck but once I found Hootsuite, didn’t look back:)
I decided to review Pagemodo as a lot of people were asking me about free/cheaper options and whilst I will always be biased that it’s better to have a fully bespoke Fan Page I think it’s good to give people the options to choose:)
I will check out Lujure in the new year and write a review and compare it against Pagemodo, from what I’ve seen so far though it seems to be quite similar in terms of the functionality and features etc.

Hi Lilach,
You’re right about Pagemodo. I was curious about fan pages so I created 2 pages for different accounts using the free version. It was really easy to set up and I had fun doing it.
But yes, I also think the features are limited although I haven’t tried the paid version. But for beginners like me, this is ideal. And I’m also going to check out Lujure.
Happy Holidays!
Thanks Theresa, pleased you found it useful. Let me know what you think of Lujure – if you found it easier to use and had better features.
Happy Holidays to you too:)

I recently created a Welcome Page for my company http://www.facebook.com/IFGAsia and being a novice Pagemodo worked great for me. However I wish that they offer more than one free custom tab as I also had to create a Contact Us tab. I got around this by using Shortstack http://www.shortstack.com which offers unlimited tabs until your page hits 2000 Likes. Its very easy-to-use and the Technical Support team was prompt in replying within one working day.
Thanks Samantha, I hadn’t heard of shortstack before so thanks for sharing:)
